Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged people across Jammu and Kashmir to actively participate in the Census 2027 self-enumeration initiative, describing it as an important exercise for governance, development planning and effective delivery of public services.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said the current phase of the census covers house listing and housing operations and appealed to residents to personally furnish accurate information.
“This phase covers house listing and housing operations. I urge every household in J&K to personally provide their details and take part in the Census,” Sinha said.
Addressing residents earlier, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the importance of the census exercise for individuals, Jammu and Kashmir and the country as a whole.
“I would like to urge all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir that the census is of vital importance for you, for Jammu and Kashmir, and for the country. I request you all to participate in this with great enthusiasm,” he said.
Sinha also appealed to people to cooperate fully with census officials and provide complete and accurate information regarding the number of family members and household details.
“I am confident that you will all extend your full cooperation in this matter,” he added.
Officials said the census exercise forms the basis for policymaking, allocation of resources and implementation of welfare and development schemes across the country.
Authorities stated that accurate participation in the exercise is essential for ensuring equitable development and efficient delivery of government services in both rural and urban areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials added that awareness and outreach campaigns are expected to be intensified across the Union Territory to encourage maximum public participation in the Census 2027 process.
