In response to widespread complaints regarding commercial passenger vehicles flouting traffic regulations, a proactive move was made by the ARTO Anantnag team. Today, they conducted extensive Nakka checks across various areas in the district, resulting in the identification and penalization of over 100 vehicles. A hefty sum of Rs. 60,000 in fines was imposed on vehicle owners for their blatant violation of traffic norms.
A thorough inspection was conducted on a total of 200 vehicles, with fines issued under diverse provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and other related rules.
The inspection team used this opportunity to educate the public about their responsibility in adhering to traffic regulations and road safety protocols while commuting. Stressing the importance of passengers’ role, they highlighted the necessity to speak up against overloading and the use of mobile phones by drivers during travel.
ARTO Anantnag issued a stern warning to passenger vehicle drivers, emphasizing the criticality of strict compliance with traffic rules to avoid disciplinary actions. Asserting their commitment, officials announced that vehicle checks will persist in the forthcoming days.
