District Police Anantnag, in its relentless pursuit to eradicate the Menace of Drugs, has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 23 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Post Sangam established a checkpoint near Tulkhan crossing Sangam, intercepting a vehicle with registration number CH032-2567. Upon checking, 23 Codeine Phosphate bottles were found in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Mohd Rafiq War, son of Gh Hassan War, resident of Shirpora Frisal, was arrested, and both the contraband and the vehicle used for the crime were seized.
A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara, and investigations are underway. The consistent actions against drug peddlers aim to reassure the community of ongoing efforts to keep society free from the scourge of the drug menace. Community members are urged to provide information about drug peddlers in their neighborhoods, and those found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per the law.
