In a significant move to boost the livelihoods of artisans and craftspeople, the BJP OBC Morcha organized a transformative PM Vishwakarma Yojana Awareness and Registration Camp in Ward 12, Reshamghar Colony, Jammu West. The event, attended by prominent political figures including State President Sunil Prajapati and Vice President Suresh Salgotra, underscores the party’s commitment to empowering individuals from Other Backward Classes (OBC) engaged in traditional skills.
The program, expertly organized by Suresh Salgotra, Ashok Salgotra, and Banti Singh, featured insightful remarks from Sunil Prajapati. He highlighted the scheme’s objective of promoting livelihood opportunities and strengthening the Guru Shishya parampara among artisans and craftspeople.
Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, artisans will be provided with Recognition Certificates and ID cards. The scheme offers credit support up to Rs 1 lakh (First Tranche) and Rs. 2 lakh (Second Tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%. Additionally, it includes provisions for Skill Upgradation, Toolkit Incentive, Digital Transactions Incentive, and Marketing Support.
State President Sunil Prajapati emphasized the scheme’s nationwide impact, providing support to artisans and craftspeople in both rural and urban areas. The initiative covers eighteen traditional trades, ranging from Carpenter and Boat Maker to Doll & Toy Maker, ensuring inclusivity across diverse artisanal skills.
Atul Bakshi, on this occasion, spoke about the scheme’s holistic approach, aiming not only to provide financial support but also to enhance the quality and reach of products and services offered by artisans. He stressed the importance of integrating Vishwakarmas with domestic and global value chains.
This significant initiative stands as a testament to the BJP OBC Morcha’s dedication to inclusive growth and the preservation of India’s cultural heritage.
