Islamabad, September 29: Tragedy struck Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday when a powerful explosion rocked the area, resulting in six fatalities and injuring approximately 30 individuals, as reported by Dawn newspaper. The incident unfolded near an Eid Miladun Nabi rally, adding to the sense of shock and distress.
Assistant Commissioner Ataullah Muneem shared information with Dawn, stating that the explosion’s exact cause and nature have yet to be determined. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, eagerly awaiting further details.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a previous blast in the same district. Not long ago, an explosion left 11 people injured, among them the prominent Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader, Hafiz Hamdullah. Mobile phone footage, broadcast on television, showed a bloodied Hamdullah being supported by two individuals as he attempted to speak. The violence in Mastung has left many in the region deeply concerned about their safety.
In a separate incident in Peshawar, a Frontier Constabulary (FC) official tragically lost his life, and eight others, including two civilians, suffered injuries in yet another blast. The explosion occurred near the Prime Hospital Complex on Warsak Road, where a vehicle of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FC’s Mohmand Rifles regiment was targeted. Warsak Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Arshad Khan, confirmed that the attack transpired at approximately 10:30 AM local time. The vehicle was en route from Machni to Peshawar when the blast occurred, resulting in the loss of one FC official’s life, with six more FC officials and two civilians sustaining injuries.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the security challenges faced by various regions in Pakistan, and they highlight the need for vigilance and proactive measures to protect the safety and well-being of its citizens.
