In a commendable display of swift investigative action, the Budgam Police, spearheaded by the Beerwah Police Station, has successfully resolved the blind murder case of Sameer Ahmad Rather, an 18/19-year-old laborer from Sail Beerwah.
The grim discovery of Sameer’s lifeless body behind his residence on November 20, 2023, prompted an immediate response from Budgam Police. A collaborative effort ensued, involving the Beerwah Police Station and teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
Several suspects, including family members of the deceased, were brought in for questioning. During the investigation, Aqib Ahmad Rather, Sameer’s brother, made a shocking confession detailing his involvement in the tragic incident. A confrontation between the brothers unfolded during the intervening night of November 19 and 20, ultimately leading to Sameer’s demise. Further confessions from the deceased’s father and sister corroborated details of Aqib Ahmad’s role in the incident.
Aqib Ahmad Rather was promptly arrested, and a thorough investigation followed, resulting in the recovery of crucial evidence, including the weapon used in the assault on Sameer.
The case has been officially filed as FIR No. 143/2023 under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Budgam Police’s dedication to swiftly resolving this tragic case exemplifies their commitment to justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
