Inspects New Bus Adda Road project, directs time-bound completion of works; meets public deputations from across the district on drinking water, irrigation, healthcare and tourism concerns

Ganderbal, Jul 30 (BuzzBytes News Desk): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday undertook an extensive tour of Ganderbal district, holding a series of public engagements and chairing a review meeting to assess the progress of key developmental projects and obtain a first-hand account of issues affecting the district. Beginning his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction of the New Bus Adda Road, a vital infrastructure project expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the area, and directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work so that the road could be dedicated to the public at the earliest. He was accompanied by his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore, the Chief Engineer of the Roads & Buildings Department and other senior officials associated with the project. Later, the Chief Minister chaired a review meeting to take stock of major development initiatives and long-pending public issues in the district, focusing on road connectivity, irrigation infrastructure, flood protection, sewerage facilities, solid waste management and land acquisition. The meeting was attended by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Mandeep Kaur, the Managing Director of J&K State Power Development Corporation, the Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Bandipora, Director Tourism Kashmir, the Chief Engineers of R&B and Irrigation & Flood Control, the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council and other district and outstation officials, the latter joining via video conferencing. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal presented a detailed overview of the district’s priority issues, highlighting the need to expedite land acquisition for road-widening projects and the approach road to the Paribal-Takanwari bridge, strengthen irrigation canals and power canal embankments, improve connectivity to the Central University of Kashmir, and develop tourism infrastructure along with a Sewage Treatment Plant at Manasbal. He also raised issues relating to rehabilitation of shopkeepers displaced by the widening of Ring Road Phase-II, construction of strategic link roads and establishment of an Integrated Solid Waste Management Plant. After reviewing the projects, the Chief Minister directed all departments to work in close coordination to remove bottlenecks, expedite pending approvals and ensure time-bound completion of ongoing and proposed works, reiterating that the government remains committed to balanced and inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit, the Chief Minister also met several public deputations and individuals at Dak Bungalow Ganderbal, representing Safapora, Nuner, Manigam, Lar, Sherpathri, Shallabugh, Waskura, Wakura, Manasbal, Gutlibagh, Beehama, Rangil, Saloora, Wayil, Batwina and other villages. The deputations raised concerns over drinking water supply, irrigation facilities, desilting of canals, upgradation of educational and healthcare institutions, availability of staff in health centres, development of playgrounds, sports infrastructure and tourism-related facilities.
