During the meeting, Singh meticulously assessed the status of various essential facilities—such as drinking water, toilets, electricity connections, and ramps—within the polling stations, noting discrepancies between the existing amenities and the prescribed norms. It was revealed that out of the 529 polling stations in the district, 62 require ramp construction, 8 lack electricity facilities, 2 need water connections, 5 require toilet facilities, and 6 are in need of furniture.

The DEO emphasized the urgent need to address these deficiencies and instructed officials to ensure that every polling station adheres to the specifications and guidelines mandated by the ECI. Singh directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ACD), Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), and Executive Engineers from departments such as Public Health Engineering (PHE), Roads & Buildings (R&B), and Power Development Department (PDD) to expedite the provision of necessary facilities within a week for the identified polling stations.

The meeting witnessed the participation of key officials including the Deputy District Election Officer, ACD, District Information Officer (DIO), CEO, and Executive Engineers from R&B, PDD, and PHE departments, all tasked with addressing the deficiencies and ensuring the prompt availability of essential facilities at the polling stations.

Singh’s proactive approach reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring adequate facilities at polling stations, aiming for a seamless and accessible electoral process in Doda district.
