BuzzBytes Srinagar 29 Nov:
In a press conference held on November 30, 2023, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain issued a stern warning against individuals sharing videos and posts on social media that have the potential to trigger communal tension, disrupt peace, and promote terrorism. The DGP stressed the duty of the police to ensure the respect of religious sentiments and prevent any attempts to disrespect Prophet Muhammad (SAW) or any religious community.

DGP Swain stated that the J&K police will take strict action in accordance with the law against those found circulating content that could lead to violence, street protests, or support separatist agendas. He urged the public to report any objectionable content immediately and emphasized that individuals should refrain from participating in the circulation of such material.
When asked about potential action against political parties contributing to unrest, DGP Swain asserted that the police, as custodians of the law, would hold responsible those who deliberately engage in actions leading to loss of life, property, or attacks.
The DGP reaffirmed the commitment of the police to maintaining communal harmony in Kashmir and preventing any damage or disrespect to religious communities. Regarding a derogatory video posted on social media by an NIT student, DGP Swain stated that the law would take its own course in dealing with the situation.
This announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts by the J&K police to curb activities that threaten peace and security in the region.
