Srinagar, Nov 16: Dhaatu Mitra, the official club of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, enthusiastically celebrated National Metallurgist Day through a vibrant array of activities.
The event encompassed various engaging competitions, including a challenging quiz, a creative drawing competition, an eloquent extempore session, and a research poster competition. Students participated zealously, showcasing their profound knowledge of metallurgy and demonstrating their creative prowess.
Professor (Dr) Sudhakar Yedla, Director of NIT Srinagar, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He praised Dhaatu Mitra for organizing an event that not only commemorated the significance of National Metallurgist Day but also spotlighted the talents and expertise within the MME community.

The event witnessed the presence of all faculty members of MMED, including HOD Prof Atikur Rahman, and faculty coordinators Dr. Nitika Kundan and Dr. Anshul Gupta.
Various competitions, such as the theoretical knowledge-based quiz, the creative drawing competition, the quick-thinking extempore session, and the research poster competition evaluating research and analytical skills, showcased the students’ multifaceted abilities.
Prof. Yedla emphasized the significance of such events in promoting innovation and fostering a sense of unity. Subsequently, he, along with other dignitaries, felicitated the winners, including Akeel and Asif for the Quiz, Hameem Habib for the Extempore and Research Poster Competition, and Berzish for the Drawing Competition.
