Don’t Betray Our Freedom

BB Desk

On this 15th of August, as the Indian flag waves high over the hills and valleys of Jammu and Kashmir, we do not just celebrate Independence Day. We use it as a strong tool to remember that our freedom came from hard fights and big sacrifices. To those who work against our nation – the anti-nationals who spread hate, fear, and division – listen well: your days of harming this land are ending fast. The values of Independence are not just words; they are the strong base that holds us together. We will protect them like the brave people who fought for them.

Why do we need to hold on to these values of Independence? Because freedom is not just a story from the past. It is our right to live free, to have peace, and to stay united as one India. In Jammu and Kashmir, where enemies from outside try to cause trouble and some inside help them, forgetting these values can bring big danger. It can lead to more violence, loss of jobs, and broken families. Holding these values means saying no to terror, no to fake stories that divide us, and no to those who want to break our state from India. These values are our shield. If we let them go, we hurt ourselves.

Why do we keep reminding ourselves about the sacrifices of our freedom fighters? Because if we forget, anti-nationals win easily. Our freedom in Jammu and Kashmir was not given for free. It came from the blood and courage of many heroes from all parts of life. Think of Maqbool Sherwani, the brave man from Baramulla who tricked invaders in 1947 and saved many lives. Remember Brigadier Rajinder Singh, who fought alone to stop enemies at Uri and gave his life for us. There were also simple people like farmers, teachers, and women who joined the fight against British rule and Pakistani raiders. Leaders like Sheikh Abdullah spoke for unity, and unsung heroes from Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh stood strong. They faced death, jail, and pain – not for a divided land, but for a free and united India. Forgetting them insults their memory. Remembering them gives us power to fight back.

But you– the ones who hide in shadows, we see you. The leaders who sell out for money, the groups who call for separation, the terrorists who kill innocents, and those funded by enemies across the border. On this Independence Day, this is your last warning: stop your dirty games. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are waking up. Our youth are alert, our forces are ready, and laws are getting tougher. Keep spreading lies, starting fights, or working with outsiders, and you will face the anger of the whole nation. You will be caught, punished, and forgotten as traitors. Freedom was won by heroes; it will stay safe with our strength.

As the lights shine over Dal Lake and the mountains tonight, let us promise more than fun. Let us hold the values, honor the sacrifices, and stand strong against anti-nationals. Independence in Jammu and Kashmir is our lifeblood – a call to fight and win.
