Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu), Mar 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged people not to panic or pay attention to rumours regarding the disruption in LPG supply caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, and appealed that only verified information should be shared.
Addressing a mega rally of the National Democratic Alliance in Tiruchirappalli, Modi said the conflict between the US-Israel bloc and Iran has affected the global energy supply chain, leading to concerns over LPG availability.
“I would like to appeal to people, let us only spread correct, verified information,” the Prime Minister said, referring to the LPG crisis that has led to a shortage of commercial cylinders affecting the hotel industry across the country.
He said there was no need to panic or believe rumours regarding the supply of LPG or possible spikes in petrol and diesel prices.
“There is no need to panic or pay attention to rumours. In any situation, we have seen how our government always puts the interests of India above everything,” Modi said, expressing confidence that the country would successfully navigate the situation.
The Prime Minister also launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu, alleging that its rule revolves around one family.
“In DMK rule, everything starts and ends with one family,” he said, adding that the people of Tamil Nadu had given the party a mandate in 2021 but it had “betrayed the trust of the people.”
He alleged that the state had become an “ATM for one family,” accusing the DMK of following a “scientific corruption model.”
“Ministers may change, MLAs may change, but power remains only with one dynasty,” Modi said, while also targeting the state government over the alleged cash-for-jobs scam.
The Prime Minister said the sale of government jobs for money had destroyed the dreams of poor and middle-class families.
Claiming that the people of Tamil Nadu were now ready for change, Modi said the National Democratic Alliance could bring a new political alternative in the state.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam currently heads the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu, with partners including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Pattali Makkal Katchi and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam.
Highlighting development initiatives, Modi said the Centre had brought the world closer to Madurai by granting international airport status to the city and had also built a modern new terminal at Tiruchirappalli airport reflecting the culture of Tamil Nadu.
He said he could clearly feel the growing desire for change among the people of the state.
Recalling his visit to Tiruchirappalli two years ago, Modi described it as a “divine experience” and said it was a privilege to return to the city, which he called a “land of courage and faith.”
Among those present at the rally were AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran, AMMK founder T. T. V. Dhinakaran and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss.
