The Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) is meant to ensure fair and equitable teacher placements across Jammu & Kashmir. Yet, in District Anantnag, this key reform has come to a standstill—raising serious concerns.
While other districts have completed teacher and lecturer transfers smoothly, Anantnag remains stuck. Sources allege favoritism is at play, with a select few “blue-eyed” teachers shielded from being moved—despite having spent over eight years in Zone 1 town schools. Meanwhile, hundreds of teachers posted in hardship zones—Zone 3 and 4—continue to wait for justice.
This imbalance is not just administrative negligence; it reflects a breach of trust. Teachers in remote areas face harsh conditions and have long awaited relief through ATD. Denying them fair transfers while rewarding prolonged comfort to others smacks of bias and breeds deep resentment.
Education authorities must immediately clarify the delay and ensure transparency. The ATD’s spirit of fairness cannot be selectively applied. Equity demands that Anantnag’s teachers be treated on par with their counterparts elsewhere. It’s time to break the silence and restore trust.
