PULWAMA, AUGUST 07: In a bid to ensure the effective execution of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ (MMMD) campaign, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Pulwama, convened an interaction session with members of the media at the Circuit House in Pulwama.The session focused on fostering improved coordination between the District Administration and media outlets, aimed at ensuring timely and comprehensive coverage of events falling under the ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ campaign.The meeting delved into the specifics of five key events that are part of the campaign, including Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, National Flag Hoisting, Singing the National Anthem, and the Panch Pran Pledge.Clear timelines were provided for these events, starting from August 9, 2023, with the intention of enabling prompt responses and thorough media coverage. In addition, events related to the Jal Jeevan fortnight and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav were also outlined, seeking the focused attention of media agencies.Dr. Qayoom highlighted that the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign holds a significant place in the culmination of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, with its central theme centered around “Soil,” symbolizing national essence and unity. He emphasized that the campaign’s objective is to collect soil from each Panchayat in the district, which will then journey to Delhi as a tribute to the courageous heroes.Addressing the gathering, the DC underscored the pivotal role that both print and electronic media play in effectively driving nationwide campaigns such as Meri Maati Mera Desh, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and Jal Jeevan fortnight initiatives. He stressed the importance of journalists being well-informed about welfare schemes and government programs to enable them to report anomalies effectively, ultimately benefiting the wider public.Dr. Qayoom explained that the purpose of such interaction sessions is to facilitate the seamless dissemination of information about various developmental activities in the district, ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the masses.Furthermore, the DC directed the different line departments of the administration to collaborate with the District Information Officer of Pulwama to establish a comprehensive calendar of events for the Meri Maati Mera Desh- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, thereby ensuring public access to event coverage.Feedback from media personnel was actively sought to address challenges faced in terms of coverage, information collection, and timely dissemination of day-to-day events in the district. Dr. Qayoom assured media representatives of the administration’s full support in overcoming these challenges.The media fraternity welcomed the initiative of such constructive interactions, expressing confidence that they would aid in accurate recording and timely reporting of events.In closing, Dr. Qayoom assured that similar media interactions would be organized in the future, fostering continued cooperation between departments and the media for the successful execution of campaigns.
