DGP Dilbagh Singh’s Report Card

In a landmark presentation, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh, unveiled a five-year report card, showcasing a remarkable transformation in the region’s security landscape. The report, a testament to the relentless efforts of security forces, reveals impressive achievements, persistent challenges, and the unwavering role of public support in maintaining peace and safety.

A Region Reborn

Over the past five years, Jammu and Kashmir has experienced a rebirth. With unwavering determination, the security apparatus achieved “Zero Collateral Damage.” This milestone demonstrates the precision and focused nature of counter-terrorism operations. It underlines the commitment to safeguarding civilians during these crucial missions. Equally noteworthy is the absence of “Zero Law and Order Incidents.” This milestone reflects the improving public order and overall safety in the region, bringing stability and serenity to the lives of residents.

Zero Civilian Casualties and Declining Terrorism Graph

Ensuring the safety of civilians has always been a top priority. The report highlights “Zero Civilian Casualties” in the region, a testament to the strategies meticulously designed to protect non-combatants during security operations. These efforts have translated into a declining terrorism graph. The region has witnessed a positive trend, signifying significant progress in countering extremism and insurgency.

Empowering Security Forces

A pivotal initiative that has fueled these achievements is “Operation Capacity Building.” This operation is a testament to the progressive spirit of the region. In a two-phased approach, it focused on equipping police stations with the latest weaponry and specialized anti-terror teams.

In “Phase 1,” 21 police stations were transformed, equipping them with modern weaponry and specialized squads dedicated to addressing security challenges. “Phase 2” is currently underway, with efforts to fortify the remaining 22 police stations under a comprehensive “zero terror plan.” These empowered police stations boast advanced resources, including drone availability and the latest weaponry. Additionally, they house a dedicated 14-member squad prepared to respond to and thwart terror incidents. These upgrades further reinforce the area domination strategy, a critical component in maintaining peace and security.

Challenges and the Ongoing Struggle

However, the report does not shy away from acknowledging that challenges persist. Recent incidents, such as the successful neutralization of five terrorists in the Machil sector, serve as stark reminders that elements seeking to disrupt peace continue their efforts. A strong and resilient border grid remains an indispensable component in foiling any such attempts.

Public Support

The Pillar of Triumph

DGP Dilbagh Singh passionately emphasized that all these achievements would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the public. The J&K police view themselves as the “people’s police,” tirelessly dedicated to ensuring the safety of the region’s youth, residents, and children striving for a better future. DGP Singh urged the people to continue extending their invaluable support, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between the police and the community.

The report card of DGP Dilbagh Singh tells the story of an inspiring journey that Jammu and Kashmir has embarked upon over the past five years. It portrays the significance of modernization, capacity building, and, above all, the critical role of public support in maintaining peace and countering terrorism. These achievements represent a substantial leap forward in ensuring the safety and prosperity of the region.

In this story of resilience, Jammu and Kashmir stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit of its residents and the dedication of its security forces. The journey continues, promising a future defined by peace, security, and progress.
