A Bandipora Youth’s Inspiring Journey

Bandipora: What started as a modest entrepreneurial idea supported by a ₹7-lakh loan has today transformed into a thriving enterprise worth ₹6–7 crore, making Javeed Ahmad Bhat of Ajas, Bandipora, a shining example of determination, vision, and smart use of institutional support.
Javeed shared his inspiring journey during an interaction programme titled “Ek Kahani Jeet Ki”, organised with Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib. Recounting his early struggles, he said the initial phase was challenging, but timely financial assistance and consistent guidance from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Bandipora played a decisive role in laying a strong foundation for his venture.
“With the right support at the right time, even a small beginning can grow into something meaningful,” Javeed said, reflecting on his journey. Over the years, the enterprise expanded steadily through reinvestment, innovation, and persistence, eventually emerging as a major business unit in the region.
Today, Javeed’s enterprise provides employment to nearly 120 people, significantly contributing to local livelihood generation and economic activity in Bandipora. His success has not only improved his own prospects but has also positively impacted dozens of families associated with the venture.
Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib lauded Javeed’s initiative and determination, describing his journey as a powerful example for other young people. She emphasized that such success stories highlight the potential of self-employment and entrepreneurship as viable career paths, especially when backed by government schemes and institutional mentoring.
Javeed Ahmad Bhat’s story reflects a broader shift in Bandipora, where an increasing number of youths are turning towards entrepreneurship rather than traditional employment. It also underscores the transformative impact of focused government support, skill development, and access to finance in converting small dreams into sustainable and large-scale enterprises.
His journey stands as a reminder that with perseverance, planning, and the right guidance, even a small loan can pave the way for extraordinary success.
