In the quiet lanes of Kurnool, where dreams often take root in simplicity, one man’s unwavering courage has etched his name in the annals of bravery. Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, a healer turned protector, has once again been honored with the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG)—his sixth such accolade—proving that true service knows no bounds.
A Doctor with a Different Calling
Sundeep’s journey defies convention. Born into a humble family, he walked the familiar path of education—studying at Montessori Public School, A-Camp, and later earning his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College. His father, Dr. G.V. Rama Gopal Rao, a dedicated Resident Medical Officer, and his mother, P.C. Rangamma, a retired health department employee, instilled in him the values of discipline and compassion.
Yet, the stethoscope wasn’t his only calling. Beneath the calm demeanor of a doctor beat the heart of a warrior—one who yearned to serve beyond hospital corridors. In 2014, he traded his white coat for the khaki uniform, clearing the Civil Services Examination to join the Indian Police Service.
A Guardian in the Valley of Courage
Posted in the volatile terrains of Jammu & Kashmir, Sundeep’s mettle was tested time and again. From the rugged mountains of Poonch to the tense streets of Srinagar, he served in some of the most challenging postings—Handwara, Kupwara, Kulgam, Anantnag—each assignment a testament to his unyielding resolve.
His bravery in anti-terror operations has earned him not just six PMGs but also four J&K Police Medals for Gallantry and the Indian Army Chief’s Commendation Disc. Yet, behind these medals lies a man who believes in more than just force. Colleagues speak of his rare blend of firmness and empathy, his ability to listen even in the midst of chaos.
The Heart Behind the Badge
What sets Sundeep apart isn’t just his courage—it’s his humanity. In a land where conflict often overshadows compassion, he has walked the delicate line between enforcing the law and understanding its human cost. Whether comforting a distressed family or leading his team through perilous missions, he carries with him the quiet dignity of a man who serves not for glory, but for duty.
A Son of Kurnool, A Hero of India
For Kurnool, Sundeep is more than an IPS officer—he is a beacon of hope, a reminder that ordinary roots can give rise to extraordinary destinies. His journey—from the wards of a hospital to the frontlines of Kashmir—speaks of a rare commitment to service in all its forms.
As he prepares to receive his sixth gallantry award this Independence Day, one thing is clear: Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy isn’t just a decorated officer. He is a living lesson in courage, sacrifice, and the unshakable belief that service, in any form, is the highest calling.
And for a nation that thrives on such unsung heroes, he is nothing short of an inspiration.
