Sumbal: The Annual College Road Race 2024 for Boys and Girls was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports at GDC Sumbal on Tuesday. The race began at 6:00 AM from Wangipora petrol pump and culminated at GDC Sumbal. The event aimed to empower participants with confidence while raising awareness about the perils of drug addiction and social evils. The entire program was held under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl. While addressing the large gathering of students, the principal underscored the importance of sports in light of the increasing crime rate, particularly concerning women, and the rising trend of substance abuse. She emphasized the impact of sports on individuals, families, and society as a whole.Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Parey delivered an insightful keynote address on the various aspects of drug addiction. He discussed the root causes of addiction and preventive measures. The whole program was supported by the Station House Officer of the Sumbal police station, the Block Medical Officer of Sumbal, and their respective teams.The event concluded with the felicitation and distribution of mementos and certificates to the position holders.
