Afreen Hyder (born 2000) , exclusive Athlete of Punit Balan Group is an inspirational human being who as Indian taekwondo sportswomen from Srinagar, Kashmir, India has shined on world level. Hyder has been an All India Rank 1 holder and has previously been ranked among the top 100 female Taekwondo athletes in the world.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Heaven Mail, the charismatic Afreen Hyder talks to Rameez Makhdoomi and Peerzada Masrat.
Tell us about your recent gold medal feat ?
I won Gold Medal at champion of Champions series under 67 weight category at Nashik Maharashtra. The cream among senior national Gold and Silver medalists had qualified for same . Through this Gold medal, I have qualified for Asian Championship to be held at Veitnam in May.
Tell us about your early journey ?
I have started playing Taekwondo since the age of 7 years. I was student of DPS school wherein the atmosphere for sports activities was quite healthy.
Throughout my journey I have bagged scores of Gold medals in prestigious National and global championships.
What is your current academic journey status ?
I am doing Masters in Sports Management from the prestigious LNIPE Gwalior .
Tell us a bit about your special achievement?
I am the first Kashmir athlete in Taekwondo to bag Gold medal in Senior National, Junior National and CBSE school Games. Although many females from Kashmir play but I am the only athlete who has represented Indian National team .
How much important is it to take part in Games Like Taekwondo?
Taking part in these Games should not be for mere self defense but giving wings to there dreams should be goal of girls. The horizons are wide in sports and with full determination one can shine.
Your inspirations?
My sole inspiration is my mother. She has reposed great trust in me and shown me the world thus giving me right exposure.
Your message to other girls ?
My message to other girls is don’t be afraid to give practical shape to your dreams .With hardwork and dedication one can reach sky. I have in my journey of sports been so happy and never dependent on anyone.
Do you have any coaches training you ?
My first coach was Atul Pangotra and my current coach is Syed Hassan from Afghanistan who trains us at Peace Academy Gurgaon .
