*New Delhi, December 11, 2023* — The Indian government has notified industry-specific environmental standards for approximately 80 industrial sectors to reduce chemical waste dumped into major rivers. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has mandated State Pollution Control Boards to monitor compliance with standards. The Central Pollution Control Board is overseeing the installation of Online Continuous Effluent/Emission Monitoring Systems for real-time pollution control.
The government’s proactive measures align with environmental goals, emphasizing the importance of industry accountability in reducing pollution in rivers across the country.
