Kashmir has been through a long haul with terror, violence and mayhem. And now, we are in the times when amazing things are happening in Kashmir. The days of peace and prosperity have come back to Kashmir, giving new spring to life. After a whopping gap of 35 years, Muharram procession was held in Srinagar. The common people have lauded the successful conduct of Muharram procession after more than three decades. This development indicates that back of violence and hate has been broken in Kashmir.Prominent civil society figure Syed Irfan Hashmi has highly appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Government especially honorable Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ji for ensuring successful conduct of 8th Muharram Mourning procession after three decades. He said that the golden event of the Muharram procession held first time after 30 years in Srinagar is a historic feat. Kashmir now marked by peace and harmony We need to support LG Manoj Sinha’s assertions. The LG said that mourners returned to their homes peacefully. Street violence is a thing of past in Kashmir. People suffered a lot due to the conflict and due to the frequent shutdowns. The LG also said that Kashmir is the land of Sufis and the a hub of Sufism. Now it is the time that we must urge all, especially the youth, to follow the message of peace and prosperity given by Muharram. In a historic move, the Jammu and Kashmir Administration granted two-hour permission to the procession between 6 am to 8 am. It is a matter of great relief that Kashmir is now back to its peaceful glory, marked by inclusivity and communal harmony. The procession was carried out on the traditional route of Shaheed Gunj to Dalgate. This route had been thrown out of bounds for the processions due to terrorism and the law-and-order situation since 1989.”The Shia community was asking for permission for the last three to four years continuously and when the government decided to allow the procession this morning, we accordingly put in place all the necessary security arrangements,” ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said. The 8th Muharram procession was another historic landmark in UT’s continued march towards peace and stability. A historic day for Kashmir A police spokesperson said that Shia brethren here are quoting it as a historic day in J&K history, which is depicting a situation at par with the days when normalcy was prevailing in the state. “Keeping in view the sensitivity of the day, when the shadow of terrorism and petty politics of separatism made it impossible to hold such events, the procession was not taken out for the last 33 years in the aftermath of violence and arson during the event,” the spokesperson said. This development indicates that the Government of India is working for the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, and the abrogation of Article 370 has brought in great fruits to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Nobody would have thought that day would come when the Muharram procession would be held in Kashmir with such peace and grand support of the government . Procession was peaceful and well coordinated Before people started the procession traffic management remained excellent since morning. “The gathering of more than 25000 people in the form of procession, fully disciplined and peaceful and well coordinated. It is certainly another great and historic day for our people.Traditionall y, mourning processions in the Kashmir Valley on the eighth and tenth days of the Islamic month of Muharram saw massive participation of Shia Muslims. However, with the onset of militancy in Kashmir in the late 1980s, these religious processions would often metamorphose into violent demonstrations. That is no longer the case. The successful conduct of Muharram indicates the end of violence.
