In a significant development, the police reported the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive substances from the forests of Ramban district. The joint operation involved Ramban Police and the Army, leading to the discovery in the forest area of Sarniyal in Tehsil Khari District Ramban.
As per the police statement provided to GNS, the recovered items include:
- 113 7.62 mm cartridges
- Three AK-47 magazines
- Seven 7.62 mm sniper cartridges
- Five PIKA rounds
- Two 5.9mm cartridges
- Three Chinese grenades
- One Pak grenade
- Two UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher)
- Two detonators
- Two fuses
- One FM transceiver (radio set)
- One PIKA belt
- 300 grams of explosive material
A case (FIR No 262/2023) under Sections 7/25 Arms Act and 3/4 Explosive Substance Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal, and the investigation is underway.
