Srinagar, October 31, 2023 – The Income Tax Department in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, joined the nation in celebrating National Unity Day, paying tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India,’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his birth anniversary.
In a gesture of unity and patriotism, the Income Tax Department organized a special event at its office premises, bringing together officers and staff to commemorate the occasion. The event was graced by prominent officials and local dignitaries, underlining the importance of unity in a diverse and culturally rich nation like India.
The National Unity Day celebrations commenced with the singing of the national anthem, fostering a sense of unity and pride among all participants. Officers and staff members also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in the integration of princely states into the Union of India.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ramesh Kumar, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar, highlighted the significance of Sardar Patel’s contributions to the nation. He said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision and determination in unifying the nation have been an inspiration for all of us. On this National Unity Day, we pay our respects to the ‘Loh Purush’ and reaffirm our commitment to preserving the unity and integrity of our great nation.”
Various cultural programs and competitions were organized to promote the spirit of unity and patriotism among the attendees. Students from local schools delivered speeches and presented cultural performances that showcased India’s rich heritage and diversity.
In addition to celebrating National Unity Day, the Income Tax Department also took the opportunity to promote tax awareness among the citizens of Srinagar. Information stalls were set up, providing taxpayers with guidance and assistance, and addressing any queries related to income tax.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competitions and a pledge to continue working towards a united and prosperous India.
