Operation Sindoor symbolised India’s resolve; 2025 marked by historic achievements across fields, says PM
BuzzBytes NEW DELHI, Dec 28:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that 2025 would be remembered as a year of proud milestones in India’s history, citing the country’s decisive stance on national security, success in sports, scientific breakthroughs, and growing global influence. In his final ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address of the year, the Prime Minister described the year as one that strengthened India’s position on the world stage and deepened citizens’ pride in their nation.
Highlighting Operation Sindoor as a defining moment of the year, Modi said the mission became a “symbol of pride for every Indian” and sent a clear message globally that the nation does not compromise on its security. India had launched precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure inside Pakistan in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The confrontation ended three days later on May 10, following a mutual understanding between India and Pakistan to de-escalate.
“Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world witnessed clearly that today’s India does not compromise on its security,” Modi said, adding that the emotional response across the nation reflected people’s profound devotion to ‘Maa Bharti’.
The Prime Minister also recalled that this year marked 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ with citizens enthusiastically participating in the social campaign using the hashtag ‘#VandeMataram150’. He said this milestone rekindled a sense of patriotism and unity across generations.
Modi described 2025 as an extraordinary year for Indian sports, with the men’s cricket team lifting the ICC Champions Trophy and the women’s cricket team scripting history by winning the World Cup for the first time. India’s Women’s Blind T20 team also clinched glory at the World Cup, and para-athletes delivered stellar performances at the World Championships. The tricolour, he said, flew high across international arenas, including the Asia Cup T20, where India registered a dominant victory.
“India’s daughters have made the nation proud. This year, our sportspersons showed that there are no limits to what we can achieve,” Modi added.
Turning to advancements in science and space, Modi lauded the nation’s growing capabilities and celebrated astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla’s achievement as the first Indian to reach the International Space Station, marking a new chapter in India’s space journey.
He noted that “the world today looks toward India with great hope,” attributing this confidence to the energy, innovation, and commitment of the country’s youth. “Nations across the globe are deeply impressed by our achievements in science, constant innovations, and the expansion of technology,” the Prime Minister said.
Reflecting on India’s efforts in wildlife conservation, Modi announced that the number of cheetahs in the country had crossed 30 in 2025, underscoring the government’s dedication to ecological balance and biodiversity.
The Prime Minister also noted that faith and culture harmoniously blended throughout the year. The grand Prayagraj Mahakumbh, held at the beginning of 2025, left the world in awe with its spiritual magnitude, while the ‘Dhwajarohan’ ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya at year-end instilled immense national pride among citizens.
He observed that the people’s growing excitement for ‘swadeshi’ products demonstrated their faith in India’s self-reliance movement. “People today prefer goods that carry the sweat of an Indian and the fragrance of Indian soil,” he remarked.
While acknowledging that natural disasters challenged the nation at various times in 2025, Modi maintained that India’s resilience and unity stood firm. As he concluded his address, the Prime Minister said, “We can proudly say that 2025 has given India even greater confidence. The country is now ready to move forward in 2026 with new hopes and new resolutions.”
