External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar highlighted India’s G20 presidency as a notable diplomatic achievement in 2023. Speaking at the Rotary Institute 2023 event in Bengaluru, he emphasized the significance of the G20 consensus reached during the 18th G20 Leaders’ Summit held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.

During this summit, the G20 leaders unanimously adopted the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, showcasing a commitment to addressing global challenges inclusively and decisively. India assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2022, leading to successful diplomatic endeavors throughout the year.
EAM Jaishankar noted the direct connection between India’s achievements, capabilities, aspirations, and dreams over the past decade, laying the foundation for future endeavors. He acknowledged the progress made amid challenges, opportunities, and achievements, providing insights into India’s all-encompassing development.
In reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaishankar commended India’s response, highlighting the rapidity of the Indian health system. Despite the global characterization of the pandemic as a “once-in-a-century happening,” India demonstrated its resilience as a society and nation, efficiently coping with the challenges and rapidly expanding healthcare capacities.
