— The University of Jammu’s Academic Council, chaired by Prof Umesh Rai, endorses significant initiatives, including the introduction of Tourism and Travel Management in the Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP), adoption of the Sports Policy, and a new IT Policy.
During the meeting, Prof Rai highlighted the success of the “Design Your Degree” programme and the commencement of student enrolment in the “Academic Bank of Credits.” The Vice-Chancellor also commended the completion of the historic “College on Wheels” journey, emphasizing the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
A total of 28 agenda items were discussed, covering a range of academic matters. The endorsement of the Tourism and Travel Management subject in the FYUGP aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. The introduction of a Two Years Master’s Degree Programme in Political Science at the Reasi Campus from the Academic Session 2024-25 received in-principle approval.
The Academic Council also endorsed the proposal for a Ph.D. programme in “Rural Studies” in the Department of Lifelong Learning. Additional credits were granted to students who participated in the innovative project “College on Wheels.”
Furthermore, the adoption of the University’s Sports Policy and a new IT Policy was endorsed. Prof Rai emphasized the need to maintain momentum in academic and research excellence.
Prof Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, and Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, also addressed the meeting. The discussions encompassed various academic matters related to admission, examinations, research, and more.
The meeting was attended by key university officials, including Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, Prof Parkash Anathal, Dean Students Welfare, Prof S. K Pandey, Director, Reasi Campus, and other faculty members and administrators.
