BuzzBytes In a significant move to uplift the educational aspirations of the families of police personnel, the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri R.R. Swain, has approved scholarships totaling over Rs. 12.90 lakh for 223 deserving wards. These scholarships aim to honor the dedication and sacrifice of martyred, deceased, retired, and serving police personnel, as well as to encourage academic excellence among their children.Under the commendable initiative, scholarships amounting to Rs. 8.32 lakh have been disbursed to 165 wards of serving police personnel who excelled in their Class 10th examinations during the Academic Session 2022-23, achieving 80% and above marks. Furthermore, special rewards of Rs. 6,000 each have been granted to 86 students securing over 90% marks, and Rs. 4,000 each to 79 students achieving 80% and above marks.Additionally, scholarships worth Rs. 2.65 lakh have been sanctioned from the Central Police Education Fund for 20 wards of martyred police personnel pursuing higher education during the academic session. Moreover, Rs. 5,000 each has been allocated to 35 wards of deceased police personnel pursuing education across various levels, from nursery to university, for the academic session.Notably, the initiative extends support beyond academic achievements, as Rs. 26,400 has been sanctioned for four wards of retired police personnel who excelled in the Annual examination of Class 12th during the academic session 2022-23.In a gesture of recognition and encouragement, a special reward of Rs. 10,000, along with a Commendation Certificate Class-1, has been conferred upon a ward of a W/SPO for qualifying the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) in 2023.This initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of the J&K Police Headquarters to the welfare and empowerment of police personnel and their families. By providing scholarships, rewards, and welfare assistance, the Police Headquarters aims to foster a conducive environment for the holistic development of police families and boost their morale during challenging times.
