J&K Prepares for Democratic Milestone: LG Sinha Affirms Readiness for Assembly Polls

In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, declared the administration’s full preparedness to conduct assembly polls in the Union Territory. Speaking at the ‘Samvaad’ conference, Sinha emphasized the administration’s cooperation with the Election Commission of India and dismissed misinformation spread by certain political leaders.

Sinha highlighted the democratic processes in J&K, clarifying that the authority to conduct assembly polls solely rests with the Election Commission of India. He commended the successful establishment of the nation’s writ in the region and noted the elimination of top commanders of terrorist organizations, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism efforts.

Addressing security concerns, Sinha stressed the excellent coordination among the army, CRPF, and police. He acknowledged attempts by neighboring elements to disturb peace and promised retribution for incidents resulting in the martyrdom of jawans.

On the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, Sinha acknowledged the government’s efforts in providing jobs and homes for 3,000 individuals but expressed the need for additional measures to ensure their resettlement.

The LG’s statements underscore a commitment to democratic values, security, and the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. The anticipation now rests on the Election Commission of India’s directives for the upcoming assembly polls.
