Joint Effort by Handwara Police, Municipal Committee, and Revenue Department to Combat Wild Bhang Menace in Barripora Handwara and Kultoora Langate

Handwara: August 16: In a collaborative endeavor, Handwara Police, in partnership with the Municipal Committee Handwara and the Revenue Department, has initiated a comprehensive campaign against the cultivation of wild bhang in the regions of Barripora Handwara and Kultoora Langate.

Under the vigilant leadership of the teams from PS Handwara and PP Langate, a special drive has been executed to address the issue of wild bhang in villages such as Baripora, Unsoo, Kultoora, and Bungam, which all fall within the jurisdiction of PS Handwara and PP Langate. This initiative aims to counter the cultivation and usage of wild bhang, a concerning substance exploited by drug peddlers and addicts.

The concerted efforts of law enforcement, local administration, and community leaders have yielded significant results. During the campaign, a substantial amount of wild bhang was located and subsequently eradicated. In participation were key figures including the Naib Tehsildar of Langate, BDC Chairman of Langate, SHO Handwara, Langate Sarpanch, Panchs, members of the local mosque committee, and other respected individuals from the community. Their active involvement signifies a collective commitment to combating the drug menace that plagues society.

Moreover, a parallel drive targeted at curbing bhang cultivation has been initiated in Ward No. 13 of MC Handwara. This combined effort, involving JK Police Handwara and the Revenue Department, exemplifies the resolve to mitigate the cultivation and distribution of substances that pose a threat to the welfare of the region’s inhabitants.

These united endeavors underscore the community’s determination to create a safer and healthier environment, free from the clutches of drug-related challenges.
