Justice (Retd) Masoodi Chairs Review Meeting on CSS Progress in Shopian

Shopian, October 19: Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, led a District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the Mini Secretariat in Shopian. The primary focus of the meeting was to assess the physical and financial progress of various Central Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in the district.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, presented a comprehensive overview of the ongoing development projects, district schemes, and the status of implementation and progress under CSS. The presentation included information about the achievements, special initiatives, and best practices of the District Administration, along with a detailed breakdown of department-wise and scheme-wise progress.

DDC Haseeb highlighted the swift pace at which various developmental projects are underway in the district. These projects aim to enhance public infrastructure and include the construction of water supply schemes under JJM, Trenz Shiekhpora bridge, road construction under R&B, PMGSY, Indoor Stadium, Amrit Sarovars, and houses under PMAY. He also pointed out the positive impact on socio-economic indicators in the district.

Justice Masoodi diligently reviewed numerous CSS programs, such as MGNREGA, PMAY (R&U), SBM, NRLM, NHM, Ayushman Bharat/ JK Sehat Scheme, JSY, JSSK, HADP, PMGSY, IDPS, JJM, AIBP, PMKSY, Poshan Abhiyaan, and other centrally sponsored schemes.

While assessing the progress made by various departments, MP Masoodi underscored the importance of enhancing performance under these schemes. He emphasized the need to maintain an adequate buffer of transformers for the winter and suggested setting up workshops at Keller and Zainapora. Furthermore, he stressed the effective implementation of JJM, completing all targets for HHU under PMAY within the year, and ensuring the availability of drug de-addiction and rehabilitation facilities, along with necessary treatment services.

Masoodi also inquired about the status of road construction, healthcare facilities, and winter preparedness. He sought information on vacant positions in the health and education sectors, as well as the creation of new posts, enrollment status, drop-out rates, and the situation of migratory schools. The MP advocated for the establishment of an Institutional Home for Women in the district, improving facilities in Children Homes, and focusing on the empowerment of women, children, downtrodden, and tribals. He also urged officers to address any bottlenecks in the implementation of schemes, particularly in KPDCL billing.

MP Masoodi applauded the dedicated efforts of officials in improving social, economic, and development indicators in the district. He encouraged feedback from officers representing various departments, including Power, Jal Shakti, Horticulture, Health, Education, and Social Welfare, on their activities and future plans to bridge developmental gaps.

Masoodi advised all officers to remain closely connected with the people, conduct regular visits, and organize outreach programs in remote and far-flung areas to ensure maximum benefits from welfare schemes.

The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan, President of MC Shopian Subhash Koul, SSP Tanushree, ADC Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, SEs, and other sectoral and district officers from line departments, in addition to numerous PRI members.
