K Administration Allocates Land for Sainik Colonies to Support Families of Slain Armed Forces Personnel

15January:In a significant move, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the allocation of land in Kashmir and Jammu for the establishment of Sainik Colonies, aimed at accommodating the families of slain armed forces personnel.* Sinha emphasized the crucial role of retired armed forces personnel in the ongoing fight against militancy, acknowledging the persistent efforts to reignite unrest in the region.During an interaction with veterans, veer Naris, and Next of Kin (NoKs) of the deceased armed forces personnel, Sinha highlighted the substantial tourist influx over the past two years. Despite the peaceful atmosphere, he expressed concern about external attempts to disturb the prevailing peace and abet terrorism. Additionally, the LG advocated for a higher ex-gratia amount of Rs 25 lakh for the families of slain armed forces personnel, committing to an increase in the coming year.
