Buzzbytes, Srinagar, August 12, 2024 — The Kashmir Pashmina Organization, under the leadership of Mr. Mubashir Shaw, has praised Mr. Mehmood Shah, Director of Handlooms and Handicrafts, for his firm measures against the proliferation of counterfeit handicrafts in the region.
In a statement released today, Mr. Shaw commended Mr. Shah’s efforts to protect the integrity of Kashmir’s rich handicraft tradition, which has been under threat due to the influx of low-quality, fake products. The Kashmir Pashmina Organization, a prominent body dedicated to preserving the authenticity of Kashmir’s famed pashmina products, has been vocal about the need for stricter regulations and enforcement to safeguard local artisans and their livelihoods.
“The decisive action taken by Mr. Mehmood Shah is a significant step towards preserving the heritage and reputation of Kashmir’s handicrafts. Counterfeit products not only damage the market but also tarnish the hard-earned reputation of our skilled artisans,” said Mr. Mubashir Shaw.
He added that the organization stands firmly behind the Director’s efforts and urged all stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at curbing the menace of counterfeit goods. Mr. Shaw also highlighted the importance of consumer awareness in differentiating between authentic and fake products, emphasizing that the protection of this industry is crucial for the cultural and economic well-being of the region.
The crackdown on counterfeit goods is seen as a pivotal move in ensuring that the unique craftsmanship of Kashmir continues to thrive and gain the recognition it truly deserves on both national and international platforms.
