In a resolute stand against the scourge of drug peddling, Kulgam Police has detained Dilawar Javid Bhat, a habitual offender and notorious drug peddler, using the formidable Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988. Under the orders of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Bhat has been confined to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu by PS Qazigund.
This significant move, authorized by Sec 3 of PIT NDPS Act 1988, allows for the preventive detention of individuals involved in illicit trafficking of narcotics, posing a grave threat to both individual health and societal well-being, for a maximum period of one year, extendable as necessary.
Kulgam Police has been relentless in dismantling narcotic and narco-terror modules, apprehending numerous notorious drug peddlers throughout the year. The police force remains steadfast in its commitment to wage war against drug peddlers, calling for the cooperation of the community to combat social evils, particularly drug abuse, and safeguard the youth from the clutches of this deadly addiction.
