Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)–Anantnag, affiliated with SKUAST – Kashmir, orchestrated a comprehensive Awareness-cum-Popularization Program dedicated to the farmers of the district. The event, conducted under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) project 20, focused on “Enhancing Apple Production: Comprehensive Pre and Post-Harvest Management Strategies with Value Addition Techniques.”
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Prof. Dil M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, commended the HADP project’s potential to make farming economically rewarding and attractive to the youth, agricultural entrepreneurs, and farmers alike. Stressing the vital role of technology in connecting scientists with farmers, he highlighted the significant contribution of the HADP project in promoting innovative apple production techniques.
The Awareness-cum-Popularization Program aimed at disseminating knowledge on comprehensive pre and post-harvest management strategies for apple production, along with insights into value addition techniques. Tailored to benefit farmers in Anantnag district, the event provided practical guidance to enhance apple cultivation practices.
Prof. Dil M. Makhdoomi emphasized the transformative impact of the HADP project, envisioning a future where agriculture becomes economically viable and attractive to the younger generation. Continuous innovation and the adoption of modern technologies were underscored as crucial elements to boost productivity and income for farmers.
The program witnessed active participation from local farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, and youth interested in the agricultural sector.
