Srinagar, Sep 14 (Buzzbytes) – Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, addressed a two-day workshop on Strengthening Child Protection Systems for various stakeholders in J&K, emphasizing the need to confront those he referred to as “conflict profiteers.” These individuals, he claimed, manipulated and radicalized children, placing stones and guns in their hands. Sinha reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to taking decisive action against such exploiters.
In his address at the Convention Centre in Srinagar, Sinha highlighted the administration’s dedication to providing laptops to the children of J&K, thereby shaping their future positively. He noted that after August 2019, all child protection laws previously inapplicable to J&K were enacted. This resulted in the restructuring of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and the establishment of a Rehabilitation policy for children. Sinha emphasized the importance of creating institutional care environments that replicate a nurturing home atmosphere.
Furthermore, the LG expressed the administration’s determination to eradicate child begging and child labor on the streets of J&K. He also drew attention to the growing issue of youth addiction to drugs and announced a concerted effort by the administration to make J&K drug-free. Sinha stressed the need for collective action, involving youth clubs, elders, civil society, and all stakeholders in this endeavor. (Buzzbytes)
