BuzzBytes Srinagar, Nov 29 –
The much-anticipated Mehjoor Nagar pedestrian bridge, linking Mehjoor Nagar and Jawahar Nagar at Mahjoor Nagar Bund, has encountered delays, failing to meet its August deadline. The project, initiated with a foundation stone laid by former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu and Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan in August 2022, was slated for completion within twelve months.

Locals expressed dismay as they observed a sluggish pace in construction, leading to concerns that the bridge might not be ready until next year. The approved cost of Rs 4.95 crores for the 106-meter-long bridge raised expectations of timely completion.
Work on the bridge reportedly halted for a few months, citing reasons known to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). Residents have now appealed to Commissioner SMC, urging immediate intervention to expedite the project’s completion and alleviate inconvenience for the community.
The delay has sparked discontent among the population, emphasizing the importance of timely execution in vital infrastructure projects. Authorities are urged to address the concerns raised by the locals and ensure a swift resolution to this setback.
