MeT Predicts Rains and Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir Next Week

Srinagar, Jan 19:The Meteorological Department has forecasted the likelihood of rains and snow in Jammu and Kashmir during the upcoming week. According to the weatherman, light snow is expected at isolated higher reaches on January 25, followed by light rain and snow over scattered places from January 26-28.A meteorological department official stated that dry weather is anticipated until January 24, with general cloudiness expected on the evening of January 20. Moreover, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at many places from January 29-31, as per indications from different weather models.The MeT department also predicts the redevelopment of moderate to dense fog and a fall in day temperature over the Jammu Division in the next three days.Regarding minimum temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 4.9°C, Qazigund minus 5.0°C, Pahalgam minus 6.3°C, Kokernag minus 1.4°C, Kupwara minus 5.0°C, Gulmarg minus 3.6°C, and Jammu 5.0°C. The Kashmir valley is currently experiencing the harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai-Kalan,’ which will persist until January 29, followed by ‘Chillai-Khurd’ and ‘Chillai-Bachha.’
