Srinagar, February 22: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, in a historic meeting with the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) delegation at Raj Bhawan Srinagar, marked a significant milestone by delivering justice to the OBC community in Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies reservations, the community witnessed the initiation of transformative changes under the visionary leadership of the Lt Governor.In a groundbreaking announcement, Lt Governor Sinha revealed plans to establish a dedicated Backward Welfare Department, aligning J&K with other states across the country. He assured the delegation that the recently passed Act for OBC reservations would be implemented rigorously, with rules soon to be framed and published.Reiterating the commitment of the UT Administration to empower the OBCs and realizing the vision of Viksit Jammu Kashmir, Lt Governor Sinha underscored the ongoing transformative changes shaping society. He credited the accelerated development, improved infrastructure, and enhanced facilities in the region to the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, fostering economic growth, peace, and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.The Chairman of Jammu Kashmir OBCs Welfare Association, Sh Mohammad Iqbal Ahangar, expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Lt Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for catalyzing socio-economic and socio-political upliftment. Sh Mohammad Shafi Shama, President of J&K OBC Welfare Association, echoed these sentiments, thanking the Government of India and UT Administration for their empowering initiatives.Advocate Shabir Ahmed highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has addressed decades-old suffering, providing justice to the OBC community. The meeting, attended by over 150 representatives from various walks of life within the OBC community, signifies a monumental step towards the empowerment of OBCs in Jammu and Kashmir.
