PM’s X post cites infrastructure, enterprise and innovation gains under #12YearsOfMakeInIndia; Amit Shah, at UP trade fair, says scheme took India from “Fragile Five” to Top 5 economy
New Delhi, Sep 25 (BuzzBytes): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted the significance of the “Make in India” initiative as it completed 12 years, stating that the programme is about creating infrastructure, enterprise and innovation that allow India to grow and prosper.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared a video, saying: “‘Make in India’ is about creating infrastructure, enterprise and innovation that allow India to grow and prosper! #12YearsOfMakeInIndia.”
Marking the anniversary, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, while inaugurating the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida in the presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said 12 years ago the Indian economy was counted among the “Fragile Five,” and today it is among the world’s Top 5 economies, a result, he said, of the Make in India policy. Shah noted that September 25 also marks the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, who he said had placed before the country a free-trade, free-agriculture economic policy that later became the foundation of India’s development under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
Shah said Moody’s has raised India’s growth forecast from 6 per cent to 7 per cent, Japan’s rating agency JCR has upgraded India’s sovereign rating from BBB+ to A-, and the country logged 7.8 per cent growth in the last quarter, the fastest among major economies. He said electronic exports have risen 11 times since 2015, July GST collections stood at Rs 2.11 lakh crore, the highest for that month, and 12 semiconductor projects worth more than Rs 1.64 lakh crore are underway across six states, with capital expenditure crossing Rs 12.2 lakh crore.
On the trade fair itself, Shah said 2025 saw over 5 lakh visitors, more than 2,400 MoUs signed and investment worth thousands of crores, and expressed confidence the 2026 edition would break those records. He said Uttar Pradesh’s defence corridor at Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur has helped push the country’s defence production to Rs 1,78,000 crore, a 56-fold rise in defence exports since 2013-14 to 80 countries, and cited BrahMos missiles and AK-203 rifles manufactured in the state. He also referred to the “One District, One Product” and newly launched “One District, One Cuisine” initiatives, and said metro rail now runs in seven UP cities, the highest of any state—(BuzzBytes)
