Srinagar, December 21: The three-day ‘Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for Women in Politics’ organized by the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, concluded on December 21, 2023, at the J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (J&K IMPARD) on MA Road, Srinagar.
The CBP, conducted by the Centre for Social Justice of the Institute, is part of a comprehensive training series designed for all elected women members of Panchayat Raj Institutions, District Development Councils, Block Development Councils, Village Panchayat Members, and Office Bearers. The entire series is sponsored by the National Commission for Women, aiming to promote Gender Responsive Governance within the system.
Qualified resource persons provided training to the elected members on various themes to enhance the overall empowerment of women. The program specifically focused on the role of women in politics and aimed to empower women in Jammu and Kashmir through well-designed policies and programs.
Several sessions were conducted for the capacity building of these women representatives, covering topics such as Effective Leadership for Better Decision Making, Effective Communication Skills, Political Empowerment of Women, Role of Government Interventions for Women’s Empowerment, Gender Responsive Governance, Democracy at the Grassroot Level, Role of Institutions in Protecting Women’s Rights, and Various Schemes and Interventions of the State and Central Government for the empowerment of Women in J&K.
