Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess the implementation of Budget announcements for 2026–27 and directed all departments to accelerate execution of welfare and development measures across the Union Territory.
Emphasising timely delivery of public services, the Chief Minister stressed the need for better coordination among departments, strict adherence to deadlines and efficient implementation so that benefits reach people without unnecessary delay.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Ministers Sakeena Itoo, Javed Rana, Javid Dar and Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, senior Finance Department officials and administrative secretaries of various departments.
At the outset, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shailendra Kumar briefed the Chief Minister on the status of Budget announcements and presented progress reports from different departments.
Officials from several key departments, including Revenue, Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, Tourism, Forest, Labour and Employment, Higher Education, Rural Development, Youth Services and Sports, Transport, Tribal Affairs, Disaster Management, Skill Development, Science and Technology and Cooperatives, also gave detailed presentations on ongoing work and implementation status.
During the review, Omar Abdullah directed departments to speed up project execution and maintain transparency and efficiency in all developmental and welfare initiatives.
He underlined that Budget promises must translate into visible results on the ground and stressed that all works should be completed in a time-bound manner.
The Chief Minister also announced that another comprehensive review meeting will be held in June to further monitor progress on Budget implementation and ensure accountability across departments.
