Surinder Choudhary accuses BJP of seeking to “murder” democracy and the Constitution by demanding dismissal of the Omar Abdullah government; calls party “anti-democracy, anti-constitutional and anti-public”
Jammu, Sep 26 (BuzzBytes): Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Saturday accused the BJP of seeking to undermine the elected government and warned that any attempt to interfere with its functioning would amount to a “murder” of democracy and the Constitution.
He questioned what right BJP MLAs had to demand dismissal of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led government and asserted that it has been elected by the people and not the BJP.
Choudhary, speaking to reporters after reviewing progress at the new legislative assembly complex in Jammu, said: “If anyone can dissolve us, it is only those who elected us.”
BJP MLAs led by Sham Lal Sharma had demanded the immediate dismissal of the Abdullah-led government on Friday, alleging its recent moves seek to revive an earlier political arrangement and challenge the constitutional framework.
Responding to these demands, Choudhary characterised such actions as seeking “hooliganism and use of force and coercion,” asserting that interference with the government’s functioning would constitute “an assault on democracy and the Constitution.”
He accused the BJP of being “anti-democracy, anti-constitutional and anti-public,” and criticised the party’s performance during the assembly session, stating they failed to address public concerns—(BuzzBytes)
