Srinagar, Oct 5: Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta made a startling revelation, unveiling that past regimes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir had facilitated over 2.5 lakh undeserved job appointments through illicit “backdoor” channels.
Speaking at an event in Kupwara, Dr. Mehta expressed his deep concern, stating, “I feel ashamed to say that over 2.5 lakh candidates with no rightful claim to government jobs were appointed through illegal and covert methods in J&K.
Under the present administration led by the Lieutenant Governor, there is a firm commitment to provide honorable livelihood opportunities to educated youth while eradicating illegal and secretive appointments. Dr. Mehta assured, “No jobs will be granted through underhanded means. We will ensure that disadvantaged individuals, who were deprived in the past, receive their rightful employment.”
Dr. Mehta dispelled misconceptions about the government’s recruitment processes, revealing that 30,000 jobs had been allocated to the youth of J&K in the past three years. He emphasized that the era of nepotism and corruption in government job allocation was over, and the rights of the underprivileged would no longer be violated.
He urged those deserving of government jobs to have faith, as their rights would be protected, while those who do not meet the criteria should explore alternative means of livelihood. Dr. Mehta encouraged individuals to consider entrepreneurial ventures rather than accepting daily-wage positions.
