New Delhi, Aug 26 (BuzzBytes): The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi spoke to Prime Minister of Nepal Shri Balendra Shah and conveyed his condolences on the loss of lives due to floods in Nepal. Shri Modi said that the people of India stand in solidarity with their sisters and brothers in Nepal during this difficult time.
He also reaffirmed that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Nepal, and Indian teams are coordinating closely with the Nepalese authorities on rescue and relief efforts.
The Prime Minister posted on X: “Spoke to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and conveyed condolences on the loss of lives due to the floods in Nepal. The flash floods struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district, bordering Tibet, on Wednesday morning after the Bhote Koshi river swelled suddenly, leaving nearly 400 people missing, including 291 foreign tourists and 93 Nepali citizens, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. Of the missing foreign nationals, 105 are Indian tourists and 37 are non-resident Indians, while others are from the United States, Malaysia, Britain, South Africa, Australia and the Netherlands. At least four deaths have been confirmed, and the flood also damaged around a dozen hydropower projects and widespread infrastructure in Rasuwa, Dhading and Nuwakot districts.
