BuzzBytes Jammu, Dec 19: – In a major operation, police arrested four individuals and booked several others on Tuesday as part of an extensive drive to identify and apprehend those offering shelter to illegally settled Rohingya immigrants in various districts of the Jammu region.

Three arrests were made in Poonch, one in Rajouri, and 10 individuals were booked in Doda. Seven FIRs were registered in Jammu, where police conducted searches at over two dozen locations in Rohingya settlements, aiming to unveil the facilitators aiding the immigrants.
Deputy Inspector General Shakti Pathak highlighted that some locals provided their land for settling immigrants, prompting authorities to investigate these facilitators, who may be availing government benefits for the immigrants.
A total of 30 locations in the jurisdiction of seven police stations in Jammu city were searched, resulting in the registration of FIRs against those accused of providing shelter and benefiting from government aid.
Illegally acquired Indian documents, including PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and bank documents, were seized during the searches, leading to the arrest of three individuals in Poonch for creating fake Aadhaar and ration cards for a Rohingya resident.
In Rajouri, a facilitator named Lal Din was arrested, connected to a case registered in October following the arrest of a Myanmar woman. In Doda district, three FIRs were registered against 10 foreign immigrants and their facilitators for obtaining Indian identity documents illegally.
Investigation details will be shared later, and stringent action is promised against defaulters. The crackdown reflects ongoing efforts to address the presence of Rohingyas and other immigrants in the region.
