Police Bust Drug Peddlers, Including Officer, in Baramulla

Baramulla, September 29 (Buzzbytes): In an ongoing effort to eliminate the scourge of drugs from society, the police in Baramulla have made significant arrests in Boniyar. They confiscated illicit substances from the suspects during the operation.

According to a statement from the local police, a team from the Boniyar Police Station, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Uri, established a checkpoint in Boniyar, Baramulla. During this operation, they intercepted two individuals, namely Sajad Hussain Qureshi, a policeman and son of Nazir Ahmad Qureshi from Bandi Uri, and Nadeem Ahmad Awan, son of Mohd Hussain from Gingal Uri.

Upon searching the suspects, the police discovered 48 grams of heroin, a contraband substance, in their possession. Consequently, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at the Boniyar Police Station, and an investigation is underway.

The police urge members of the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes in their vicinity by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. Cooperation from the community is vital in combatting the drug menace, and the police reaffirm their commitment to taking firm action against criminals in accordance with the law.
