Gandhi accused the Centre of diverting attention from these pressing issues and pledged to address them if his party comes to power.Speaking to the public, Gandhi advocated for conducting a caste census, describing it as a historic and revolutionary step. He reiterated the Congress’s commitment to implementing a caste census, emphasizing its importance in providing clarity on the socio-economic status of marginalized communities.Gandhi outlined his vision for economic and financial surveys, emphasizing their role in empowering Dalits, the economically disadvantaged from the general category, minorities, and tribals by providing insights into their socio-economic standing.Highlighting disparities in wealth distribution, Gandhi criticized the Modi government for allegedly favoring the rich while neglecting farmers. He pointed out the stark contrast in wealth distribution, with a small fraction of the population possessing a significant portion of the country’s wealth.Furthermore, Gandhi raised concerns about the Agnipath scheme introduced by the Centre for short-term induction of soldiers in the armed forces. He alleged that the scheme would deprive soldiers of martyr’s status and pension, accusing the government of diverting funds meant for defense personnel to benefit private defense companies.Gandhi’s yatra, which entered Maharashtra on Tuesday, marks its final leg and is set to conclude in Mumbai on March 17.
