In the ongoing gunfight in Rajouri, one more terrorist and a soldier have lost their lives, bringing the total toll to seven. Officials said that, to date, two terrorists and five army soldiers, including two captains, have been killed.
Today’s casualties add to the grim outcome of the initial encounter that took place on Wednesday in the Baji area of Kalakot Rajouri, where four army personnel, including two captains, were killed. In response to these losses, additional reinforcements were swiftly deployed to the area.
The army’s White Knight Corps, in a tweet, stated, “Based on specific intelligence, Joint Operations were launched in Kalakote area Gulabgarh forest Rajouri.” They added, “Contact was established on 22 November, and intense firefight ensued. The terrorists have been injured and surrounded, and operations are in progress, amidst acts of valor and sacrifice by our own bravehearts in trying to prevent collateral damage to women and children in the highest traditions of #IndianArmy.”
Official sources reported that two captains, a havildar, and another soldier were killed during the initial phase of the encounter, with two others, including a Major, sustaining injuries. Today’s developments include the killing of two terrorists, one identified as Quari from Pakistan, and a soldier.
Yesterday, a police officer stated that a joint team of Police and security forces initiated a cordon and search operation in the area based on “very specific input.” As the joint team approached the suspected area, terrorists in hiding opened fire, leading to the ongoing encounter.
