Hafeez directed officials to ensure smooth traffic by clearing snow-covered roads, emphasizing the potential of Gulmarg to become a world-class winter sports destination.The Secretary urged a focus on showcasing the scenic beauty of Gulmarg during the event, highlighting its renowned slopes and quality snow. The Winter Games, scheduled from 21st to 25th of this month, will exclusively feature snow-related sports, including Ski Mountaineering, Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, and Nordic Skiing.Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull, confirmed the completion of preparations, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of Union Ministry for Youth Affairs, Sports Authority of India, and Winter Games Association of J&K. The event aims to foster new bonds and promote sports growth in the region.Renowned winter sports and Olympic athlete Shiva Keshavan attended the meeting, adding to the prestigious gathering. The Khelo India Winter Games, part of the central government’s flagship Khelo India scheme, is expected to boost tourism, the economy, and inspire local youth to embrace winter sports.The games, inaugurated on the 21st of this month, promise excitement and competition in ice sports events, with live streaming available on DD Sports and various online platforms, offering a wider audience the chance to cheer for athletes and support the region’s sporting endeavors.
