New Delhi, Dec 15:
The Special Cell of Delhi Police, intensifying its inquiry into the Parliament security breach, has apprehended two additional individuals, Mahesh and Kailash, residents of Rajasthan, suspected to be associated with the five previously arrested in the case.
During the Counter Intelligence Unit’s interrogation, it emerged that Mahesh was slated to be part of the attack team but was thwarted by his family. He is also alleged to have assisted the mastermind, Lalit Jha, in destroying mobile phones of his associates in Rajasthan’s Kuchaman.
Senior police officials, including two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Additional Commissioners of Police, interrogated Lalit Jha, who disclosed detailed accounts of the incident.
Preparations for the attack reportedly commenced months ago, with an entry pass being a crucial requirement for Parliament access. Lalit had sought assistance from anyone capable of arranging the pass.
To intensify the probe, the Special Cell has deployed six teams to locations linked with the accused in Lucknow, Mysore, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana. The accused will be taken separately to various locations for cross-verification and evidence identification during the 7-day custody period.
The investigation exposed the custom order of two pairs of shoes in Lucknow, highlighting a strategy to smuggle a smoke canister into Parliament, considering that shoes are not subject to scrutiny.
The Delhi Police’s Special Cell plans to recreate the Parliament security breach scene by taking the accused to the complex on Saturday or Sunday. This reconstruction aims to unravel how the accused entered with a color spray and executed their plan, providing crucial insights for the ongoing investigation.
